Somewhere along the way, the Republican party lost its way both morally and philosophically. I'm not sure when it happened, but the party of small government, character matters (anyone remember the Bill Clinton years), personal responsibility, and protector and promoter of democracy have devolved into something unrecognizable. Quite frankly I am not sure what they stand for anymore other than winning elections at all costs. As an example of how far this party has fallen just look at the response Gov. Chris Sununu gave to George Stephanopoulos's litany of
Former President Trump's offenses (fast forward to 6:56):

Make no mistake, the Republican Party is not my party. But I do remember a time when it had identifiable principles or at least limits to its political rhetoric. Insurrection, election denial, illegality, totalitarian aggression, invasion of sovereign states, etc., would not have been tolerated.

Apparently, this is not my father or grandfather's Republican Party.
